How do I transfer my static HTML and PHP website files to Woot Hosting servers?

--The four steps process below will help you easily and quickly transfer your web site to our servers. This approach ensures a risk free environment from any downtime or unexpected problems that may arise. Please follow the four steps process exactly as described below.

Step 1 – Make a full copy of your current up-to-date web site files!

Full copy of your current web site is referring to your html documents, php files, images, scripts, order forms, databases, data files, music etc. You need to make sure you have a complete and up-to-date copy of your entire web site on your home or business computer. If you have not already done this, you need to connect to your current web-hosting provider and download or transfer all of your files to your own computer. This will require using an FTP program, like FileZilla or depending if you use a html site builder like Dreamweaver, then the files will already be on your home or business computer, just make sure they are all up-to-date. If you have already canceled your service with your previous host provider and you do not have a copy of your files, then the only other option you may have is to request a copy of them from your old provider and hope they still have it on their servers. If not, then unfortunately you are going to have to start over from scratch, sorry.

Once you have your entire web site and everything you need to properly move your site to another server, then please go to step two.

Step 2 – Review our great web hosting plans that we have available!

During this time you may want to consider two particular factors. And that is... how large is your current site in MB (mega bytes). How much bandwidth (*Transfer size of files and information from a web page to an end user. A high traffic website can eat up allot of bandwidth.) will be needed monthly to accommodate your current site and also are you looking to expand the size of your site in the near future. These two factors may save you time later from having to upgrade your service and help give you a better idea of what you will need, in terms of choosing a plan.

HINT: Web server space and bandwidth usage should be available at your current host provider to help determine your choice of a hosting plan with Woot Hosting.

While keeping that in mind then select one of our hosting packages that will best fit your needs for your business or personal website. Once you have chosen and ordered one of our quality 30 day money back guarantee hosting plans, then continue on to step three.

Step 3 – Uploading all your web site files to our server (server set-up must be complete)

Once you have signed up for one of our quality hosting plans then your account will be setup within a few hours from the time we receive your order and no problems arise. The time frame varies depending on factors such as if you had completely filled out the order form correctly or the time that we actually receive an email verifing your order and it has been successfully processed. When your account is activated and set-up, then we will send you all the information so you can start the uploading process of your web site files to our servers via an FTP program using the IP address that we give you via activation email. You may use this IP address immediately to upload your files.

You must create a directory to put your files in or you can simply upload the files to the root directory of the server. For instance, if creating a new directory you may want to call it ‘Home’ and the path will look like this \public_html\Home on your RV Skin admin Cpanel or like we mention just upload to the root directory \public_html\.

Step 4 – Cancel your old hosting service

After the three steps above have been accomplished and all your up-to-date files have been uploaded, then we recommend you cancel your service with your current or old host provider at this time. As you may have realized, canceling service with your current or old web host provider too early can cause problems. But if you have canceled your service with your old provider to early then don't worry. Just go to step one or two, whichever is needed, and begin there as quickly as possible.

That’s It!

Important: If you have chosen to use your existing domain name, during the secure online order process. Then you must edit your nameserver to point to our servers with your domain registrar host. If you’re not sure how to do this then contact your domain registrar support staff and they will be more then happy to assist you. All the information needed to complete this process with your domain host company will be provided to you in the email we send you as soon as your account becomes active.

Note: Your domain name may take up to 72 hours or more to resolve throughout the Internet and local servers.

Administration Note: WootHosting understands the possible need to transfer an entire site(s) from one server to another and because of that understanding; we will hold your site files on our servers for up to 3 days in most cases. So, in other words if you decide to leave the Woot Hosting family we got you covered for 3 days, just in case you forget. ;-)
